NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) People will see a stretch of North Broad Street come back to life.

Whole Foods Market will have a grand opening ceremony on Tuesday at 300 North Broad Street. City officials, including the newly re-elected mayor will participate in the event.

The store sits on the site of the old Schwegmann's store and will serve as an anchor for a larger redevelopment project called the ReFresh project.

It will ultimately include Liberty's Kitchen, Tulane University's Goldring Center for Culinary Medicine, Broad Community Connections and FirstLine Schools.

The city says it's funded in part by a program designed to increase access to fresh foods in traditionally underserved neighborhoods, called the New Orleans Fresh Food Retailer Initiative.
