Terrytown SWAT roll ends after man found with self-inflicted gunshot wound

Updated:

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - SWAT team members were called to a westbank bar Monday after employees reported hearing gunshots in the rear of the business.

Police responded to Gerry's Place at 1096 Behrman Highway at about 5:30 p.m. and met with employees who said a man was holed up in a room in the rear of the business.

A negotiator tried to open a line of communication with the man while the SWAT team was on stand-by. They received no response.

At about 8 p.m., SWAT members entered the room and found the man with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man was not identified, and no further information was available.
