Man arrested in murder of Army sergeant in Marrero

HARVEY, LA (WVUE) - A man wanted in connection with the New Year's Day killing of an Army sergeant who was home for the holidays surrendered to police Thursday.

Darwin Bethune, 24, of New Orleans, was booked into the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center on one count of second-degree murder.

The victim, 31-year old Joseph Anderson, was shot and killed Jan. 1 after he dropped off his children at his in-laws' home on Ray Street in Marrero. The gunman also stole Anderson's car. Authorities found Anderson's Toyota 4-Runner just two miles from where he was killed.
