NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - State highway workers will close the westbound span of the Judge Seeber Bridge most of the weekend.

The Department of Transportation and Development says contractors will install guide brackets and replace a seal on the motor that lifts the drawbridge. The westbound lanes of the Seeber Bridge on Claiborne Avenue are only expected to be closed on February 8th and 9th from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Drivers who need to cross the Industrial Canal should use either the St. Claude bridge or the one on Florida Avenue.

The repairs to the Seeber Bridge have been ongoing since last summer. The state closed the bridge in August of 2013 for cleaning and painting, and did not reopen it until November 2013. Drivers have since been faced with periodic closures as work crews try to finish the project.
