By The Numbers: Tyreke Evans struggling

Pelicans guard Tyreke Evans was acquired over the summer in a sign-and-trade that saw New Orleans part ways with C Robin Lopez and G Greivis Vasquez.  The 6'6" swing man from the Kings was sold as a sixth man in the mold of the Spurs' Manu Ginobili.

Sunday night in Brooklyn, Evans was a healthy scratch.  When asked about the decision to keep the fifth year man out of Memphis out of action, Williams said "It's just internal right now...internal issue."

By the numbers, Evans is putting up his worst numbers as a pro:

This Season Career Rank (5 seasons)
Career Average
Minutes 24.5 5th 33.4
Points per 36 minutes 18.2 2nd 18.0
Attempts per 36 minutes 16.4 1st 15.3
Field goal percentage .401 5th .444
3-point percentage .152 5th

His minutes being down comes as no surprise since he is no longer starting but he is still scoring at his second highest pace per 36 minutes.  This despite his field goal and three-point percentages both being career lows.  Alas, he is attempting a career-high 16.4 shots per 36 minutes, one more than he has averaged over the length of his career.

If the Pelicans do decide to make a move, the NBA trade deadline is Thursday, February 20th.
