Some La. parishes under winter storm warning

A cold front just to our north will begin to push into the area. As the front moves south of the coast, colder air will settle in.

Temperatures will drop to the 40's Monday night and into to Tuesday.

Some showers are expected Monday night, with more rain Tuesday as an upper trough positions itself just to our west.

Tuesday looks to be a cold, wet day with afternoon temperatures in the 40's and lots of showers and some thunderstorms.

The upper trough will move east by Wednesday, and with it, the showers. Temperatures remain chilly on Wednesday, but more sunshine by later in the day.

A gradual warm up is on the way into the weekend.

While the metro area will see rain, several parishes north of Alexandria are under a Winter storm warning.

Those parishes include Claiborne, Bienville, Lincoln, Union, Jackson, Ouachita, Caldwell, Franklin, Richland, and Morehouse.

Sleet and freezing rain is expected for these areas Monday night into Tuesday.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development says all efforts will be made to keep the interstate system and major corridors open in the event of snow or ice. When a bridge or roadway is deemed unsafe, it will be closed.
