Polar V800 has made some real strides in catching up to and surpassing the Garmin Forerunner 910XT according to the Heart Rate Watch Company.
Bozeman, MT (PRWEB) February 13, 2014
Polar V800 are Polar's new triathlon watches with Bluetooth Smart that can last for up to full Ironman's and handle all major metrics for all three sports - swim, bike and run - according to the Heart Rate Watch Company.
"Polar V800 will set a new standard for triathlon watches when it arrives in April so it will be interesting to see what Garmin's response is when they likely upgrade the Forerunner 910XT later this year," says Rusty Squire, president of the Heart Rate Watch Company. He adds, "Garmin has a little longer battery life but the Polar V800 has Bluetooth Smart and all of Polar's Smart Coaching Features so it has a leg up for now."
Garmin interfaces with any ANT+ power meters while Polar only interfaces with their Polar Look/Keo power pedals, so until Polar comes up with a transmission standard equalizer Garmin is the more flexible in terms of power meter use according to Squire. "Garmin can use the Garmin Vector pedals or any other ANT+ power meter, so it is more flexible," says Squire.
Heart Rate In The Water
"This is one area where Polar outshines Garmin thanks to a 5 gHz transmission frequency as the V800 will get heart rate in the water where the 910XT will not," says Squire.
Overall Heart Rate Data and Calorie Accuracy
"Here we would give Polar V800 a definite edge over the Garmin 910XT because Polar has been more diligent than any other manufacturer over the years about assessing their products and fine tuning them in the Human Performance Lab," says Squire.
"Polar wins here too thanks to a steel body and gorilla glass it should prove to be the more durable of the two watches," says Squire. He adds, "Polar really stepped it up here with the new V800 and this has brought them right to the cutting edge in triathlon watches."
