According to Fox 8 meteorologist Chris Franklin, there is a slight risk of severe weather for the entire viewing area tonight and early tomorrow as a line of thunderstorms develops along a cold front. The greatest risk appears to be straight-line winds. Most of the energy with this system will be well north of the area and most severe storms should remain there. A warm and mostly dry day today with afternoon highs around 80 degrees!
This would be the first 80 degree temperature of the year and the first since December 6th. The record at MSY today is 82 degrees. Any showers and storms won't move in until late this evening and tonight, with most activity ending after midnight. By wake up time tomorrow, the cooler air will have already arrived with a morning start in the upper 40s and mid 50s. It will be sunny and cool Saturday and a little warmer on Sunday with a chance of a few light passing showers.
