ST. TAMMANY PARISH, LA (WVUE) - Detectives on the north shore search for a Mobile-area woman last seen in St. Tammany Parish after a standoff involving her boyfriend.

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office says Melinda Denny's mother called them Saturday morning asking them to check on the 26-year-old and her boyfriend, Johnathon Nall, because they were in a parking lot on Highway 21 and needed money for gas.
Deputies located the couple, who said they were ok.
Investigators found a weapon but no ammunition in Nall's red Jeep. Because neither of them had a criminal record, deputies let them go.
Less than 12 hours later, deputies were involved in a standoff with Nall at a gas station near Madisonville, where he had a gun and threatened suicide.
Deputies arrested Nall after firing a bean bag and took him to a hospital for evaluation. Sheriff Jack Strain said it has been difficult to get information from him, however.

"To say that he is incoherent would be an understatement," Strain said. "One minute he believes the government is responsible for all of his problems, the next time, aliens are responsible. But he is not coherent ."

Detectives say they haven't found Denny and have not ruled out foul play.

Anyone who might have seen the vehicle early Saturday morning along the I-12 area, or who might have information about Denny's whereabouts, is asked to call 911.
