Aaron Broussard wants judge to throw out his sentence

New Orleans, LA - (WVUE) Former Jefferson Parish President Aaron Broussard wants a federal judge to make null and void his 46 month sentence.

The motion to vacate cites "ineffective assistance by counsel."

Broussard's new attorney, Arthur Lehman the third, filed the motion. It details upheaval in the United States Attorney's Office related to the scandal over online postings.

It also includes an affidavit from Broussard's trial attorney, Robert Jenkins, which says he filed multiple motions about misconduct he suspected at the time by U.S. Attorney's Office.

Jenkins says a lot of what is now public information was hidden from him at the time.

Broussard is now in federal prison in Tallahassee, Florida serving a 46 month prison sentence after pleading guilty to conspiracy and theft.
