MIAMI (RNN) - It's important to remember that not everything needs to be posted on Facebook. Also, use the phrase "suck it" sparingly.

For teenager Dana Snay, the advice comes too late.

According to the Miami Herald, an appeals court judge threw out an $80,000 discrimination settlement Wednesday for former Gulliver Prep School headmaster Patrick Snay. Judge Linda Ann Wells ruled a social media post by his daughter violated the settlement's confidentiality agreement.

"Mama and Papa Snay won the case against Gulliver," the daughter wrote to her 1,200 Facebook friends - many students and former students at the school. "Gulliver is now officially paying for my vacation to Europe this summer. SUCK IT."

The case started in 2010, when Patrick Snay, now 69, claimed age discrimination was the reason his contract was not renewed, the Herald reported. Gulliver agreed to the settlement amount in November 2011, as well as another $10,000 in back pay and $60,000 for the Snay attorneys.

According to "Papa Snay's" deposition, his daughter had faced retaliation at the school, where she was a student. He felt he had to inform her of something, since she had known the mediation was going on.

"Snay violated the agreement by doing exactly what he had promised not to do," Wells stated. "His daughter then did precisely what the confidentiality agreement was designed to prevent."

The appeals court decision came after a circuit court ruling upheld the settlement. The Snay family can file a motion for rehearing and appeal to the state Supreme Court, the Herald reported.

Dana Snay's Facebook page was not publicly available Tuesday.
