Most iced-over highways in Louisiana reopen

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Melting ice means the Louisiana Department of Transportation has reopened most roads that had been closed earlier Tuesday.

Officials say Interstate 10 from I-49 in Lafayette to Seigen Lane in Baton Rouge is now open, as are parts of I-12 and I-110 in Baton Rouge.

Elevated portions of I-49 in Alexandria are also open. The roads were closed Tuesday morning after freezing rain glazed elevated surfaces, causing numerous crashes. Most reopened by 2 p.m.

The Sunshine Bridge at Donaldsonville, the U.S. 190 bridge over the Atchafalaya River at Krotz Springs and Ambassador Caffery Parkway in Lafayette have also reopened.

Louisiana 10's crossing over the Mississippi River on the Audubon Bridge at St. Francisville remains closed. Officials say they're not sure when it will reopen.
