Error, speed and no seatbelt all factors in Metairie driver's death

KENNER, LA (WVUE) - A high-speed crash left one dead and one injured in an early morning car crash.

Police say 40-year-old James Isom from Metairie was driving at a high rate of speed down Clay Street in Kenner. As Isom reached the intersection of Clay and Airline Drive he ran the red light and his car flew into the air before flipping over and crashing into a utility pole.

Isom was pronounced dead on the scene, but the sole passenger in the vehicle was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition. Police say driver error, speed and Isom not wearing his seat belt all contributed to his death.

Chief Steve Caraway asks that if anyone witnessed this crash to call Kenner Police Traffic Officer / Investigator Gerald Miller at (504) 712-2424.
