OPSO: Juvenile arrested for tampering with his electronic monitoring device

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -- Deputies with the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office arrested a juvenile for disabling his electronic monitoring device and leaving his home.

Police say that around 5:30 a.m. Sunday, the unidentified juvenile in OPSO's Electronic Monitoring Program disabled his device prior to leaving his home. OPSO deputies, with help from NOPD officers, began searching for the juvenile.

NOPD officers took the juvenile into custody after he returned to his home at 1:30 p.m. He was transported to the Youth Study Center.

The juvenile, who was previously arrested for armed robbery, has been charged with tampering with an electronic device and criminal damage to property over $500.
