Kenner Police arrest machete-wielding teen for aggravated burglary

KENNER, LA (WVUE) - A masked man who broke into a house wielding a machete is in police custody.

On Feb. 24, Victor Manuel Vega-Ramiro allegedly broke into a house in the 800 block of Veterans Boulevard wearing a mask and threatened to lone occupant with a machete. He forced him to lay face-down on the bed and said "you saw nothing."

Police say Ramiro ransacked the residence and stole a laptop computer before fleeing the residence in his mother's SUV.

Witnesses described the vehicle to police, who then used license plate recognition cameras to connect it to Ramiro.

Police said detectives also discovered physical evidence linking Ramiro to the aggravated burglary, resulting in an arrest warrant being issued for his arrest.

Police interviewed Ramiro and say he confessed to committing burglary. He also said that he randomly selected the home and did not know the person inside.

Ramiro remains in custody, having been transported to the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center where he remains on a $150,000.00 bond.
