3 men shot, one fatally, in separate Algiers incidents


NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - New Orleans police were investigating a fatal shooting followed by a double shooting in Algiers Wednesday.

The first incident happened just after 5:30 p.m. on Old Behrman Highway near Behrman Place. Police responding to the scene found a 35-year-old man lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds to the body. He was pronounced dead. The victim has not been identified pending notification of family members.

The lead homicide detective in this case is Tindell Murdock.

About a half- hour later, police responded to the scene of another shooting in Algiers, this one in the 3500 block of Vespasian Boulevard. A 23-year-old man was shot in the buttocks and a 20-year-old man was shot in both legs. Their injuries were not life-threatening.

Anyone with information that could help police in either case is asked to call Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111. Callers may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a cash reward for tips that lead to an arrest and indictment.
