NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - A 16-year-old was arrested Thursday in the fatal shooting of another 16-year-old Wednesday in the Desire neighborhood.

The shooting happened at about 8 p.m. in the 3600 block of Kimi O'Gray Ave.

Police responding to a call of a male down inside an apartment found the victim lying at the top of a staircase. He had been shot in the shoulder and died at the scene.

Investigators say four teenagers were hanging out together in the residence when the victim and the suspect started "rough-housing." During the scuffle, the suspect got a gun and shot the victim.

Homicide Detective Deborah Normand is in charge of the investigation.
