HDLC decides to stay silent on proposal for Holy Cross site

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The Historic District Landmarks Commission decided not to make a recommendation about what to do with the old Holy Cross School site.

They heard hours of arguments Thursday from dozens of Holy Cross residents about a proposed pair of seven-story buildings that would house about 300 residents.

Those against the project said the mid-rise developments would destroy the fabric of their neighborhood.

Supporters said they welcome it, as it could be an economic spark for the area.

The City Council will take up the issue at its next meeting without a recommendation from the Historic District Landmarks Commission.
