2 arrested in downtown shooting

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Police have arrested two brothers in connection with a Tuesday afternoon shooting at a busy downtown intersection.

Eighth District detectives booked 24-year-old Terry Carter with one count of aggravated battery by shooting. His 22-year-old brother, Terrence Carter, was booked with principle to aggravated battery by shooting.

The shooting happened at about 3:15 p.m. in the 100 block of S. Rampart Street at Canal, where the 19-year-old victim sustained a gunshot to the body. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

An officer working a detail in the area heard the shot and was able to broadcast a description of the perpetrators. Police said they believe the Carter brothers knew the victim and that this was not a random act.
