KENNER, LA (WVUE) - Kenner Police say frustration over a parking spot at Walmart led to road rage, an officer being hit by a car, and a police chase that ended with a crash.

A Kenner Police spokesman says 29-year-old James Bloecher Jr. of Metairie now faces several charges.

The incident started just before 3 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at the Walmart on Veterans Blvd.

They say Bloecher repeatedly honked at another driver who was waiting on a parking spot.

Bloecher allegedly became angry and sped around the vehicle.

An officer working a detail approached him. Investigators say Bloecher tried backing away to avoid the officer, then shifted his SUV into drive and hit the officer with his side-view mirror.

Police caught up with him at Veterans and Transcontinental and noticed him throwing bags of marijuana out of his window.

He then crashed into an unmarked police unit and was arrested.

Bloecher faces charges including aggravated assault upon a police officer, third-offense marijuana possession and reckless operation.
