Police believe alcohol involved in fatal car crash

FOLSOM, LA (WVUE) - Police believe alcohol is to blame in a car crash Saturday evening that killed the driver.

State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on La. 40 West of La. 437 in St. Tammany parish around 4:15 p.m. March 29.

Investigations showed that 52-year-old Woodruff Camus III was driving west on La. 40 when he swerved too far on a left-hand turn before over-correcting and going off road. Camus crashed his car into the guard rail and several trees before stopping in a creek bed.

Camus was not wearing his seat belt at the time and was seriously injured in the crash. He later died at the hospital.

Police suspect alcohol use and are running a toxicological analysis.
