Police arrest man for home invasion after he allegedly beats up girlfriend

HOUMA, LA (WVUE) -

Houma Police arrested a man for allegedly beating up his girlfriend while she was inside another friend's home.

Officers were called to the 400 block of Columbus St. on Monday around 9 p.m. to investigate a disturbance. Once there, they discovered a woman with injuries to the face.

Kevin Rainey, 51, entered the residence without permission and started hitting the victim. He continued beating her until the victim's friend left to get help, according to police. Rainey ran out of the residence, but police were able to apprehend him.

After speaking with witnesses, officers arrested Rainey for one count of home invasion. He is being held in the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex. There is no word on his bond status.
