Man accused of stealing $593,814 from Bourbon Street bars

A man accused of stealing almost $600,000 from two French Quarter bars has bonded out of jail, and now the owner is trying to solve the mystery of where all that money is.

Vincenzo Randazzo, 43, who also goes by the name "Jake," was arrested April 3 for felony theft and possession of marijuana. Randazzo had worked for several years as a sub-contractor at the bars in the 200 block of Bourbon Street, doing air-condition repair and other jobs.

According to the arrest warrant, the bars' owner went on vacation March 25, and when she returned discovered several envelopes of money missing from her safe.

Video surveillance taken March 26 shows Randazzo entering the bar's office and emerging wearing a zipped-up jacket that appeared to be stuffed with a large object. The video footage shows no one else entering or leaving the office.

After Randazzo's arrest, a private investigator working for the bar owner told FOX 8 that police had seized a recently purchased car and more than $50,000 in cash from Randazzo.

The investigation is ongoing, and police have scheduled at 3 p.m. news conference to discuss the case.

Watch FOX 8 today at 5 p.m. for more details in a live report.
