NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

It is what locals have waited for all year long and thousands of people from around the world are here too.

The 45th annual New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival kicked off to beautiful weather. Music filled the air and great New Orleans food is being served.

The city warns drivers who intend to park in the mostly residential area that space is limited and parking enforcement workers will be writing tickets and writing tickets all weekend long for those who don't follow the rules.

Tow trucks are also ready to haul away any cars that block driveways or fire hydrants.

Many businesses, churches and schools open their lots for festival parking, but the city requires a permit for it. The cost is $265.25 for commercial properties and $30 for non-profits.

Tickets are still available for both weekends. The gate price is $70. Each ticket is valid for any single day of the weekend. Children between the ages 2-10 get in for $5. They must be accompanied by an adult.

Big acts today include Irvin Mayfield, Public Enemy and Santana.
