A dozen La. college players take in NFL draft

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Louisiana college football teams have seen 12 players selected during the 2014 NFL draft that ended Saturday.

Nine LSU players were drafted, starting with receiver Odell Beckham Jr., by the New York Giants, in the first round. The second round saw Tigers defensive tackle Ego Ferguson go to Chicago, running back Jeremy Hill to Cincinnati and receiver Jarvis Landry to Miami. Guard Trai Turner went to Carolina in the third round, linebacker Lamin Barrow to Denver in the fifth and quarterback Zach Mettenberger to Tennessee in the sixth. Running back Alfred Blue and receiver James Wright also were drafted in late rounds.

Louisiana Tech had two players chosen, starting with defensive tackle Justin Ellis, by Oakland, in the fourth round.

Washington drafted Tulane receiver Ryan Grant in the fifth round.
