COCODRIE, LA (WVUE) -- -

Louisiana State Police Troop C detectives are investigating a car crash that took the life of a 29-year-old Golden Meadow man. The accident occurred Sunday morning on Highway 56 in Cocodrie. The man has been identified as Shawn Dardar.

According to police, the owner of a marina called police Sunday after noticing that a vehicle damaged a pole, a concrete barrier and three support pilings on his property. Police arrived on scene and began checking the waterway near the property, before finding the submerged vehicle. When crews pulled the vehicle from the water, Dardar's body was found inside. Investigators determined that Dardar was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.

A toxicology test will be performed to determine if alcohol played a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
