Cops: Woman in bar laughed about kids left in car

MCKEES ROCKS, Pa. (AP) - Police say a woman was found drinking at a western Pennsylvania bar while her 9-year-old twins were locked in a car outside and that she laughed when officers asked whether she thought that was a good idea.

The woman, 40-year-old Ontreace Stevens, of McKees Rocks, has been jailed on child endangerment charges. Someone phoned in an anonymous tip that she was inside drinking while her kids were locked in the car Tuesday night.

She told police she merely went inside to order food, but police say their investigation revealed she had been drinking for some time. McKees Rocks police Chief Robert Cifrulak says they aren't certain how long Stevens was in the bar.

Court records don't list an attorney for Stevens. Her mother has taken custody of the children.
