Police: Man robs Gentilly business with shotgun, fires at cashier

New Orleans Police are searching for a suspect caught on video robbing a Gentilly business armed with a pistol grip shotgun.

Officers say the incident happened on Thursday, May 22 around 3:13 a.m. at a business located in the 4300 block of Louisa Street.

Authorities say the suspect walked into the store and demanded money from two cashiers. The suspect demanded one cashier to empty the register. Police say the second cashier fled the scene.

Officers say that the suspect fled the store and headed north on Louisa Street. Authorities say the suspect entered a white vehicle, unknown make and model.

The cashier attempted to follow the suspect, police say. At this time, officers say the suspect fired at the cashier.

New Orleans Police have described the suspect as a black male, approximately 5'9" and weighing 150-165 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, black pants and green tennis shoes. The suspect wore a camouflage fishing hat on his head and a knit stocking covering his face. Police believe the suspect is between 20-25 years-old.
