Friends and family gathered Tuesday night at the spot where honor a 17-year-old football player was gunned down Sunday.
Johan Kenner, who played for Landry Walker High School, was one of about 40 people playing at St. Roch Park when bullets started flying. People scattered, but Kenner couldn't get away because he'd just had knee surgery.
"It's important to remember him," said Kenner's cousin, Markquel Johnson. "He was great cousin to me. He was like a brother to me, and I miss him."
"He was not a bad child," said Angelina Elder, another cousin. "He was into sports, he had a good upbringing - a solid upbringing. It's just such a shame. A waste of life.
