SLIDELL, LA (WVUE) - Three juveniles have been arrested after admitting to burglarizing St. Genevieve Parish Church in Slidell early Monday morning.
Slidell Police say the burglary was discovered by church employees when they arrived to work Monday morning.
Entry had been made into a business building located behind the church, and a safe inside had been destroyed.
The "poor box" containing approximately $2,100 was taken along with several bottles of wine and jewelry that was being stored in the safe.
The suspects also destroyed several computer monitors and damaged several doors throughout the building.
Slidell detectives Tuesday identified a Slidell juvenile as being one of the individuals responsible.
St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's detectives and detectives from the Slidell Police Department, who were looking for the same individuals in connection with a business burglary at Max's drink shop, began tracking down and locating the subjects involved.
Altogether, five juveniles were located and interviewed.
Three of the juveniles admitted to burglarizing the church.
The other two admitted to burglarizing the business.
Some of the money and property that was taken from the church has been recovered.
