Houma Police: Man arrested for multiple drug charges

HOUMA, LA (WVUE) - Houma Police have arrested a man for multiple drug charges. Davantae Maryland, 21, was taken into custody on Wednesday around noon.

Police say that officers responded to a call of a man locked inside a woman's car, refusing to get out. As officers approached the vehicle they saw Maryland stuff something between the seats. Once he was removed from the vehicle, he was found in possession of cocaine. Police searched the vehicle and found that it was marijuana and paraphernalia that Maryland stuffed between the seats. He was arrested for possession of marijuana, possession of CDS II (crack cocaine) and possession of drug paraphernalia.

While being transported to jail, he was also found to be in possession of a hydrocodone pill that he attempted to get rid of at the jail. Following this, he was charged with one count each of possession of CDS II (hydrocodone) and obstruction of justice. Maryland remains in jail awaiting bond or court.

He was not charged for being in the woman's car.
