Police: Woman raped, robbed while searching for husband in French Quarter

Detectives say that a woman was raped and robbed as she searched for her husband in the French Quarter.

Police say that the victim, 37, and her husband were separated on Bourbon Street Wednesday night. The woman tells police she used a stranger's phone in an attempt to locate her husband.

After several failed attempts, the woman tells authorities she was approached by an unknown black male. The unknown man claimed to know where the victim's husband was and offered to lead her to him.

The victim allegedly followed the man off of Bourbon Street and ended up in a dark and secluded area. The woman tells police that the man grabbed her and sexually assaulted her. Following the assault, the woman claims the suspect removed cash from her purse and fled the scene.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
