2 hotels robbed at gunpoint; police seek single suspect

Authorities are searching for a man suspected of robbing two hotels at gunpoint Thursday morning.

Officials in Kenner say the first robbery occurred around 12:40 a.m. as the suspect entered the Travel Best Inn, located in the 2200 block of Veterans Boulevard. The suspect brandished a black handgun and demanded cash from a hotel clerk, police say. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect fled the scene.

Twenty minutes later, an armed robbery was reported at a Holiday Inn in Metairie. The suspect entered the hotel located in the 2200 block of North Causeway Boulevard around 1 a.m. The suspect brandished a pistol and fled the hotel with cash.

Officers believe that one suspect committed both offenses. The suspect was observed by surveillance cameras at each location.

The suspect has been described as a white male, weighing 150-180 pounds with a goatee. Officers say the suspect is between 5'5" and 5'10" and wore a dark baseball cap turned backwards. The suspect was last seen wearing a dark pullover shirt, khaki pants and black shoes.
