Harbor Police Officers pulled a man's body from the Mississippi River. According to a Port of New Orleans spokesperson, the call came in Sunday at 3:50 p.m.
Harbor Police officials dispatched a boat to retrieve the body, which was pulled from the water near the Government Street Wharf.
Matthew Gresham, a Harbor Police spokesman, said the body had been in the water for some time.
John Gagliano, chief investigator for the Orleans Parish Coroner's Office, said the body has not yet been identified and an autopsy will be performed Monday.
