Man compares fast food to ads; challenges workers

Posted: Updated:

CNN's Jeanne Moos profiled on a man on a mission. His cause: Compare fast food customers' orders with pictures the fast food joints use to advertise their edibles.

"Have you ever gazed at your bacon cheeseburger deluxe and thought it doesn't add up to its own ad?" Moos begins. "Does your Quarter Pounder look more like an eighth of a pounder?"

This line of thinking inspired Greg Benson to don glasses with a hidden camera and visit several fast food chains, including Wendy's, Jack in the Box, Burger King and McDonalds.

In every instance, Benson asked the manager to make the food look more like its picture. And every time they gladly remade the sandwiches.

According to 2012 footage from a Canadian McDonald's, it takes one minute to make a regular Quarter Pounder. Then it takes a food stylist an hour to prep the pounder for its close-up.

Moos says Benson gave away all of his retouched meals. As it turns out, this fast food foodie was on a juice fast.
