JPSO: Accidental drowning in Lafitte

Updated:
LAFITTE, LA (WVUE) -

A woman in Lafitte appears to have accidentally drowned, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office.

A police spokesman says around 9:30 a.m. officers were called to the 4400 block of Jean Lafitte Blvd for a reported drowning.

Officers discovered the body of 39-year-old Michela Hebert Noel of Lafitte.

Police say a neighbor discovered the body in the water in one of the boat slips at Cochiara's Marina.

Hebert was last seen Wednesday night around 11:30.

Hebert lives at the Marina and it appears she stumbled into the water and drowned.

Investigators learned Hebert had a history of abusing  prescription drugs and alcohol.

At this time, it doesn't appear foul play was involved.

The Jefferson Parish Coroner's Office will determine the exact cause of death.
