Man found murdered in New Orleans East apartment

New Orleans homicide detectives are investigating a incident that left a 52-year-old man dead. Police were called to the 5100 block of Bayouview Court in New Orleans East at 8:10 p.m., Saturday. The name of the victim will be released once family members are notified.

According to police, responding officers arrived on scene to find the man's bloody body inside of an apartment. Detectives saw that a struggle took place inside the apartment. The coroner pronounced the man dead on the scene and determined that he was murdered. The coroner will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

    A Thibodaux woman has been charged after she blamed her diabetes as the cause to her shoplifting habit, according to the Thibodaux Police Department.  Thibodaux Chief of Police Bryan Zeringue said officers arrested Amy Stevens, 42, for theft.  On Monday Stevens went into a grocery store in the 600 Block of Lafourche Drive and stole two packs of ground meat, one pack of ribs and one pack of frozen fish by concealing the items in her purse, according to the report.
