Man staggers into NY McDonald's with a knife in his back

QUEENS, NY (WVUE) -

A man stunned customers when he stumbled into a New York McDonald's on Tuesday with a kitchen knife sticking out of his back, according to CBS 2 News.

Andrew Hardy, 53, appeared calm – actually talking on his cell phone – as customers scrambled to prevent him from falling on the knife. Someone snapped a picture of the wound.

"I heard everybody screaming and it was a lot of commotion," said Tromaine Yancey was at the restaurant for an interview when the whole thing happened. "The guy came and he was standing there with a knife in his back and it was a kitchen knife."

Investigators said Hardy had gotten into a fight down the street and managed to make his way into the McDonald's, where he eventually passed out.

"But he was on the phone and I'm pretty sure he was on the phone talking to somebody in his family or a loved one or something," Yancey said. "He was talking to them, telling them it might be the last time they speaking to him."

According to CBS 2 News, Hardy was taken to a Jamaica, Queens hospital, where he was listed in serious condition. Police are still looking for at least two men involved in the fight.
