Driver shot to death while stopped at red light

New Orleans police are investigating the fatal shooting of a driver who was stopped at a red light at an Interstate 10 off-ramp.

The shooting happened just before 1 a.m. near the I-10, 610 split at the westbound Franklin Avenue ramp.

Witnesses said the victim was stopped in a Mercedes convertible when a man walked up and shot him, and then fled in a car.

The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead on the scene. Police have not yet released his name.
