Woman killed in boating accident on Amite River


The La. Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is investigating a fatal boating accident on the Amite River.

A spokesman with LDWF says it happened July 1st around 6:30 p.m. in the Killian area near Pete's Landing.

A 17 foot vessel operated by Richard Ledoux, 58, hit a tree near the river bank. The collision with the tree resulted in the death of his wife, 59-year-old Deborah Ledoux. 

Richard Ledoux was airlifted to the Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge with non-life threatening injuries.

Deborah's body was turned over to the Livingston Parish Coroner's Office.  An autopsy will be performed to determine a cause of death.
