4th of July fireworks and celebrations:

Thursday, July 3rd

New Orleans City Park- The annual Happy 3rd of July event promises to be a spectacular show. Enjoy patriotic music with The Marine Corps Rock Band & The Marine Corps Band on the Goldring/Woldenberg Great Lawn and fireworks from the Peristyle. Concessions, snoballs, wine, and beer will be available for purchase.

5:30pm till 6:15pm: The Marine Corps Rock Band; 7pm to 9pm: Marine Introductions and The Marine Corps Band of New Orleans; 9pm: Fireworks from the Peristyle

Uncle Sam Jam at Lafreniere Park - Celebrate the Fourth of July with food and drink, music by a DJ in the afternoon and live bands at night, and a fireworks show from 3 to 10 p.m. The live music lineup on the Al Copeland Concert Meadow Stage:

Christian Serpas and Ghost Town, 5:30 p.m.                                                                            Lee Greenwood, 7:30 p.m.                                                                                                       Jana Kramer, 9:20 p.m.

There will be a break in the music at 9 p.m. for the fireworks. Chairs and blankets are welcome; no outside food or drink. Admission is free.

Kenner fireworks at the Treasure Chest Casino - The casino and the city of Kenner host a fireworks show over Lake Pontchartrain, July 3 at 9:30 p.m. Spectators can watch from Laketown and the levee area, or, if 21 or older, from one of the decks of the casino. Admission is free.

Sparks in the Park in Covington - The city of Covington presents the inaugural Independence celebration, which features face painting, patriotic music and a fireworks show (starting about 8:45). Guests are welcome to bring their own picnics, and concessions will be available for purchase, July 3 from 7 to 9 p.m. Admission is free.

Friday, July 4th

Bucktown Bash - 325 Metairie Hammond Highway. The celebration includes the Blessing of the Fleet, live music, arts and crafts, Louisiana seafood, kite flying, children's activities and more, July 4 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Gates open at 10 a.m., with Mass starting at 10:30. The Blessing of the Fleet is at noon. The music lineup: The Quickening, 12:30 p.m.; the Bucktown All-Stars, 2 p.m.; Breton Sound, 3:30 p.m; Zebra, 5 p.m; and Leon Russel, 6:45 p.m. Admission: $5, free for children 12 and under.

St. Bernard Parish Salutes America - The St. Bernard Salutes America Committee will host the 30th Annual Celebration July 4th from 4:30 to 10:30 p.m. on the Frederick Sigur Civic Center Grounds located at 8245 W. Judge Perez Drive, Chalmette.  Admission is free. The celebration will include live music by "Amanda Shaw and The Top Cats.  The event will again feature the annual Hot Dog Eating Contest, sponsored by Stonewalls BBQ, at 6:00 p.m. as well as games, rides, and a spectacular fireworks show at 9:00 p.m.

Patriotic Butterfly Release - In a salute to Independence Day, Audubon Butterfly Garden and Insectarium will release red, white and blue butterflies on July 4, 2014 at 11 a.m. Visitors are invited to celebrate the holiday with butterfly-themed activities throughout the day. Audubon Butterfly Garden and Insectarium, 423 Canal Street.

Go 4th on the River - 24th annual Independence Day celebration with the Dueling Barges Fireworks extravaganza over the Mississippi River between the Gov. Nichols Street Wharf and the Canal Street Dock in New Orleans. July 4 at 9 p.m. Admission is free.

Fourth of July in Westwego  - Westwego Farmers and Fisheries Market, 484 Sala Ave., Westwego. The holiday celebration will feature music by Brad Sapia; food, beer and soft drinks; plus fireworks, July 4 from 7 to 10 p.m. Admission is free.

Boomtown Casino - The casino hosts a Fourth of July celebration with music, food and drinks available for purchase, and a fireworks show, July 4 from 7:30 to 10 p.m. The fireworks are expected about 9:30 p.m.
