HOUMA, LA (WVUE) -

A Houma man shot another man in the head after being woken up early Sunday morning.

According to Houma Police, Ray Carlos, 58, of Big Cypress Street, was woken up around 3 a.m. by his neighbor's ex-boyfriend banging on her door. Police said that Carlos went outside armed with a handgun because he was upset about being woken up.

Police said Carlos yelled at the man banging on his neighbor's door, and the man turned around and began to approach Carlos. Carlos fired a single shot into the man's head, killing him.

Police said Carlos immediately called 911 after shooting the victim. After a police investigation, Carlos was arrested for second-degree murder and jailed at the Terrebonne Parish Jail awaiting bond or trial.
