Slidell man killed after being struck by train

SLIDELL, LA (WVUE) - A Slidell man was killed July 4th when he was struck by a train, according to the Slidell Police Department.

Police say 37-year-old David Finch was struck by the train around 1:30 a.m. as he walking on the railroad tracks along Front Street.

The northbound freight train struck Finch (near Textron Land and Marine), causing fatal injuries.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Slidell Police suspect the victim may have been impaired at the time of the accident. Toxicology tests are pending.
