West End neighbors on edge as police search for armed robbery suspect

HENRICO, VA (WWBT) -

Police need your help finding 19-year-old armed robbery suspect Shawn Thibou. Officers brought out their police plane and captured three of four suspects accused of robbing the Shell Gas Station at the corner of West End Drive and Broad Street.

"That's kind of scary," said Mike Gardner.

Thibou was last seen running toward Gardner's neighborhood.

"We're moving anyway," said Gardner. "That's just going to encourage me to move even faster."

We spoke to other neighbors like Deb Haut who saw the police plane and blue lights, but she took it all in stride.

"Interesting," Deb thought. "Well our good Henrico bucks at work. I love it. I hope nobody was hurt."

There were no reports of injuries. Officers spotted the vehicle as it drove onto West End Drive and stopped.  Two suspects exited the vehicle and ran.  Officers apprehended a male suspect that remained in the vehicle and another suspect was apprehended after a search of the area. A female suspect was apprehended at the Shell Station. Thibou is still on the run.

"We are concerned that he may have a weapon with him," said Lt. Linda Toney. "So please if you see him don't approach him. We are asking that you please call us."

James Nolan, Charles Nolan, and Ariel Green have been captured and charged with robbery, use of a firearm, and conspiracy to commit robbery.

"This person has four warrants out on him so we need the public's help," said Lt. Toney.

Thibou is 6'1", 190 pounds with black hair, brown eyes and a goatee.  He is wanted on four outstanding warrants; Robbery, Use of a Firearm, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, and Wearing a Mask in Public.

The whole thing has Mike on edge.

"It just costs a lot to live out here in the West End," said Mike. "And you don't feel safe at all."

Residents can take some comfort in one thing.

"We don't believe that this person is actually hiding in the neighborhood," said Lt. Toney. "We do believe though that he is out there."

Mike has a word of warning.

"If he comes over here," said Mike. "I do have a gun."

If you have any information call Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000.
