Tropical Blog: Tropical Storm Bertha

Updated:
NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

The tropical wave we watched in the Atlantic was named Tropical Storm Bertha late Thursday night.   There is plenty of dry air making it difficult for the storm to strengthen.  Also as it pushes west towards the islands there is lots of strong shear pushing thunderstorms away from the center.  Although the National Hurricane Center keeps this system a Tropical Storm through early next week, it will struggle against opposing forces the entire time. The good news is that this storm is still east of the islands.  Eventually the storm will make a turn northward keeping it away from the US.

If you are traveling to the Caribbean this weekend you may want to call ahead as  the timing will keep the storm in that region through Monday.
