Tropical Blog: Little chance of development for Gulf coast feature

Updated:
NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

When you look at satellite, an ominous "blob" of storms looms just off the LA coast. However, this is along a trough of low pressure extending from Brownsville, Texas all the way to Tampa, FL.

This trough is moving northward and will increase rain coverage across the northern Gulf coast all weekend.

No tropical development is expected with this feature. A wave in the Caribbean is moving west and being given a 0 percent chance for development in the next few days, and a 20 percent chance in 5 days.

It's worth watching as some models develop a low pressure center in the Bay of Campeche by early next week. Looks like it would be a threat to Mexico.

We will continue to monitor for you in the Fox 8 Weather Center.
