MS Lt. Governor signs warrant to send Bourbon Street Shooting suspect back to LA

Mississippi Lt. Governor Tate Reeves signed the warrant to extradite Trung T. Le back to Louisiana.

"As Acting Governor and in coordination with Gov. Bryant's office, I have signed the rendition warrant to extradite Trung T. Le to authorities in Louisiana at the request of Gov. Jindal,"  Reeves said. "The sooner the warrant can be executed the sooner Louisiana law enforcement can work toward justice in this horrible incident."

Le is charged with one count of first degree murder and nine counts of attempted first degree murder stemming from the June 29 shooting that took the life of 21-year-old Hammond resident Brittany Thomas.

He was apprehended July 4 by the New Orleans Police Department's Violent Offender Warrant Squad and the U.S. Marshals. He was found at a residence in Gulfport, MS.

During the shooting on Bourbon Street, police believe at least two suspects exchanged gunfire, wounding bystanders in the crowd, before fleeing the scene. Police believe Le fired the first shot.

Police are actively searching for a second suspect.
