FOX 8 wins eight first-place Louisiana AP Broadcast awards

BATON ROUGE, LA (WVUE) -

FOX 8 won eight first place awards at the 2014 Louisiana Associated Press Broadcasters Awards ceremony. The ceremony was held Saturday at the Lod Cook Alumni Center on LSU's campus. In all, FOX 8 took home a total of 13 awards. 

FOX 8 won the following awards:

CONTINUING COVERAGE

- First place: WVUE, Hounded, Shelley Brown, Fox 8 Defenders, Lance Washington, Avis Landry, Paul Rodgers.

BEST SPORTS STORY

- First place: WVUE, She's a Knockout, Sean Fazende, Edwin Goode, Lance Washington.

- Second place: WVUE, Life Outside the Lines, Jennifer Hale, Lance Washington.

BEST INVESTIGATIVE REPORTING

- First place: WVUE, Body of Evidence, Lee Zurik, Donny Pearce, Jon Turnipseed, Tom Wright.

- Second place: WVUE, Swiped Again, Tom Wright, Jon Turnipseed, Lee Zurik.

BEST PUBLIC AFFAIRS

    William Huff terrorized Sierra Vista during the spring and summer of 1967. Despite a sentence of 40 years to life, the Arizona Board of Executive Clemency voted to release him from prison into home arrest. Family members of the victims are concerned for the safety of the community, as are new members of the Clemency Board. CBS 5 Investigates videotaped Huff riding a bike through his Tucson neighborhood. There are no restrictions placed on his proximity to children.
