SWAT team rolls overnight in Uptown

A SWAT unit was called out to Uptown after several gunshots were heard inside a house on Napoleon Avenue.

Around 4 a.m. on July 13 officers responded to a disturbance at 1301 Napoleon Ave., just off St. Charles. When officers arrived at the scene they spoke to a woman outside the house that said the man causing the disturbance, 43-year-old Elmer Anweiler, was inside the location.

According to police, officers approached the house and Anweiler fired several gunshots causing officers to call in a SWAT team.

Anweiler surrendered peacefully. No one was injured.
