Ex-Terrebonne teacher pleads not guilty in sex, AIDS exposure case

TERREBONNE PARISH, LA (WVUE) - A former Terrebonne Parish teacher accused of sexual contact with a student pleaded not guilty Thursday.

Derrick Nesby, 37, has denied the allegations since he was arrested in June. He is accused of sexual relations with a 16-year-old male student at H.L. Bourgeois, where he was a teacher and track coach. He's also accused of exposing this student to the aids virus.

Nesby faces carnal knowledge of a juvenile, intentional exposure to the AIDS virus and molestation of a juvenile by an educator. The last charge alone carries a maximum of 40 years in prison.

Nesby is jailed in Terrebonne Parish on a $1 million bond. He's due back in court in August for a bond reduction hearing.
