Versailles boulevard home shows off wow factor

Versailles Boulevard is a stone's throw from Tulane University across Claiborne. The established street is filled with impressive, traditional homes. But there's one that has some nontraditional features.

The painted brick home gives you the feeling the homeowners have arrived.

"It's a nice conservative traditional home," said Eleanor Farnsworth of Gardner Realty. "You can tell by the entrance of the home it's different than a normal box."

One look inside this dwelling and you're definitely forced to think outside the box.

"It's like Versailles Palace or something. It has all the chandeliers and mirrors and ornate details. it's very pretty," Farnsworth said.

The foyer shows off with a wow factor. Iron flanked stairs are reflected in mirrored walls. Chandeliers bring in the opulent light and take your eye up to a gold leaf ceiling and other points of interest.

"It's very different to have an upstairs balcony like that," she said. "It flows to all the bedrooms."

"It's very dramatic and it leads to all these nice entertaining spaces. This side has a formal living room," Farnsworth said.

The formal living room is open with hard wood floors that are constant in the house. The paneled mirrored walls from the foyer are continued here.

"You step up two stairs and you have a pretty columned room that overlooks the pool and it flows out to the pool and spa outside," she said.

The house has ample space with more than 6 thousand square feet and five bedrooms. A couple of the upstairs bedrooms are irresistible. Children's rooms filled with custom finishes and whimsey are ready for make believe in high style.

On the other side of the foyer a formal dining room leads to a spectacular kitchen.

"This is a newly renovated kitchen and it's a lot of space that flows to the next room that would be great for entertaining."

The den has a tray ceiling that lifts the room. accented with gold leaf. A wall of glass doors directs you to an entertaining wonderland outside.

Like magic, you can make those glass doors disappear

"You pull them all and they slide together and fold up," Farnsworth explained. "You can just walk out on that terrace and you have misters and heaters and wonderful fans. This flows out to the children's play yard and a great swing for swinging.

Iron work frames an outdoor masterpiece. A pool that is intimate and inviting brings the trickling sounds of relaxation. A spa waits for you after a long day. Seating areas in various locations invite you to come and stay a while. The outdoor area is complete with a pizza oven and outdoor full kitchen.

"The outside has a nice wet bar the ice maker there. It has everything you need," she said.

The outside of the Versailles Boulevard home is understated and elegant. Open the doors and you'll unexpected features beyond your wildest dreams.
